Game 60: Bulls 100, Pistons 94 (OT)

16 Apr 2012

Three Stars (leaderboard)
1. Derrick Rose: 24 points (.470 TS%), 4 reb, 9 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk, hero 3 to force OT
2. Joakim Noah: 20 points (.597 TS%), 17 rebounds (13 offensive), 3 assists, 2 blocks
3. Kyle Korver: 13 points (.888 TS%), 2 rebounds, 2 assists

I’m not going to pretend to be impressed by an overtime win in Detroit, but I do want to push back against the idea that the Bulls “play down to the level of their competition.”

Implicit in that occasional complaint, of course, is the idea that some or even many NBA teams are so much worse than the Bulls that anything less than a blowout is unacceptable. But that’s not how this works. The other guys are on scholarship too, and the Pistons are one of the better “bad” teams in the league.

That said, I reserve the right to raise hell if the Bulls don’t crush the hapless, shiftless Wizards on Monday.

Box Score

Record: 46-14, first in the NBA
Next: Monday 4/16 vs. Washington, 7:00 CT
