Game 51: Nuggets 108, Bulls 91

27 Mar 2012

Three Stars (leaderboard)
1. Kyle Korver: 14 points (1.000 TS%), 5 assists
2. John Lucas: 14 points (.636 TS%), 2 assists
3. Omer Asik: 7 points (.643 TS%), 6 rebounds (3 off.), 5 blocks

We like to say the Bulls have several bench players who “could start for most teams in the NBA,” but Monday’s lethargic loss provided more evidence this might not actually be the case.

Carlos Boozer scored 10 points in the first half and then took the second half off. Luol Deng had one of his saddest lines of the season (9 points, 3 rebounds) and even Joakim Noah contributed little outside of four blocks. That’s largely how Denver wound up with a 54-24 advantage on points in the paint.

And in their relative absence, half-marks to the men manning the point in Derrick Rose’s absence. C.J. Watson had a team-high 17 points and John Lucas was a spark plug off the bench, but neither could stay in front of Ty Lawson (27 points). (That’s also where a bunch of those points in the paint came from.)

Box Score

Record: 40-11, first in the NBA
Next: Wednesday 3/28 at Atlanta, 7:00 CT
