Game 47: Bulls 89, Sixers 80

18 Mar 2012

Three Stars (leaderboard)
1. Joakim Noah: 13 points (.570 TS%), 11 rebounds (5 off.), 4 assists
2. C.J. Watson: 20 points (.581 TS%), 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks
3. Taj Gibson: 11 points (.511 TS%), 6 rebounds (4 off.), 4 assists

Not a great weekend for the Bulls without Derrick Rose, but Saturday was much better than Friday, as they clamped down defensively after a horrible start, winning the game in the second half.

Both teams got offense from their scoring points — Jrue Holiday (30 points) early, C.J. Watson late — and great defense from their wing players, including All-Stars Luol Deng and Andre Iguodala locking each other down.

It was up front that Chicago found a winning edge, led as always by the hard work of Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson. The rebounding margin was 53-39, and the four Sixers big men managed only 22 combined points.

Really, it wasn’t pretty. Watson and Deng especially were too inefficient. But with Rose out, it was good enough for now.

Box Score

Record: 37-10, first in the NBA
Next: Monday 3/19 at Orlando, 7:00 CT
