Game 45: Bulls 106, Heat 102

15 Mar 2012

Three Stars (leaderboard)
1. John Lucas III: 24 points (.901 TS%), 3 rebounds, 1 assist
2. Joakim Noah: 14 points (.595 TS%), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks
3. Ronnie Brewer: 12 points (.575 TS%), 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals

If I had told you before the game that the Bulls would beat Miami without Derrick Rose and with Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer combining for 13 points, you would have been stunned.

“How can you know the future?” you would have asked. “Are you a witch?”

I would have continued, explaining how John Lucas III was going to have one of his crazy Sam Cassell big-balls nights, taking and hitting every shot in sight (and a few just over the horizon). How seven other Bulls would score between 8 and 14 points, each one of them playing his heart out — even Boozer — in front of a thrilled home crowd.

I’d have detailed the night in store for Taj Gibson, another coming-out party with Boozer limited to two points, and the do-everything hustle of Deng, Joakim Noah, Ronnie Brewer and the rest of the gang.

Just you wait, I would have told you. The offense won’t always be pretty, but it’ll be a night that will make you proud to be a Bulls fan.

“Hmmm,” you would have said. “That sounds good, but are you sure you’re not a witch? Maybe we should burn you just to be sure.”

Box Score
