Game 39: Bulls 96, Sixers 91

5 Mar 2012

Three Stars (leaderboard)
1. Derrick Rose: 35 points (.649 TS%), 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal
2. Joakim Noah: 11 points (.468 TS%), 18 rebounds (7 off.), 4 assists
3. C.J. Watson: 9 points (.750 TS%), 2 rebounds, 2 assists

The good news is the Bulls have Derrick Rose, and they still have a slight edge on Philadelphia in maturity and late-game execution.

The bad news is the Sixers are getting better and smarter with every game. That experience gap is closing fast, and the Bulls are going to need more than just the best guard in the league to beat this team in the coming months and years.

Philadelphia played harder for most of the game — out-rebounding the NBA’s best rebounding team — and mounted a defensive effort that frustrated the Bulls for long stretches. With Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer quiet, it was a Derrick and the Rosettes kind of night.

Of course, the other guys are on scholarship, too. It was a tough win, on the road, against a hyper-aggressive, playoff-bound budding rival, and style points shouldn’t really apply here.

But would it kill them to give Rose a little more help?

Box Score
