Game 33: Nets 97, Bulls 85

18 Feb 2012

Three Stars (leaderboard)
1. Taj Gibson: 14 points (.530 TS%), 9 rebounds (6 off.), 2 steals
2. Mike James: 16 points (.559 TS%), 3 rebounds, 7 assists
3. Carlos Boozer: 16 points (.581 TS%), 9 rebounds (1 off.), 2 assists, 2 steals

It’s been easy at times to forget the Bulls without Derrick Rose are not more than a borderline all-star and a well-coached collection of role players. When they’re going right, the Rosettes have the depth, skill and savvy to beat most teams in the league.

But when they’re not going right … you get games like this.

Deron Williams (29 points, 8 assists) and Kris Humphries (24 points, 18 rebounds) were by far the best players on the court all afternoon, leading the Nets to a 22-3 lead after five minutes and a surprisingly easy win.

Not quite for lack of effort, the Bulls never really got going. Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer were the worst versions of themselves — spazzy and lazy, respectively — and Luol Deng and C.J. Watson accomplished little.

I mean, honestly, when only one regular plays as well as 36-year-old Mike James, something has gone horribly wrong.
