Game 32: Bulls 89, Celtics 80

17 Feb 2012

Three Stars (leaderboard)
1. Luol Deng: 23 points (.686 TS%), 4 rebounds, 10 assists, 1 block
2. Joakim Noah: 15 points (.405 TS%), 16 rebounds (8 off.), 2 assists, 2 blocks
3. Carlos Boozer: 23 points (.705 TS%), 15 rebounds (0 off.), 5 assists

We talked a lot about Rajon Rondo and Carlos Boozer, but the Celtics’ work on the boards was another big factor in their win when these teams met last weekend.

They’re one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, and Chicago is the best, but somehow the Celtics grabbed 51.2 percent of the available rebounds.

The world was back on its axis in Thursday’s rematch at the United Center. Led by Joakim Noah, the Bulls rebounded at a 58.4 percent rate, including 16 offensive boards.

After combining for 20 points last weekend, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were only slightly more productive against Ronnie Brewer and Luol Deng this time, scoring 26 points on 10-of-29 shooting. C.J. Watson kept Rondo human (17 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists) after his 35-point triple-double last weekend.

These Celtics touch greatness only occasionally anymore, and this one was at home, but it was a solid win for the Rosettes. And now it seems they might get their MVP leader back this weekend.

Can’t wait to see him.
