Game 20: Pacers 95, Bulls 90

26 Jan 2012

Three Stars
1. Ronnie Brewer: 20 points (.581 TS%), 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals
2. Derrick Rose: 24 points (.566 TS%), 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks
3. Joakim Noah: 10 points (.556 TS%), 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

There’s no shame in a close loss to the emerging Pacers, not in January with your second-best player watching from the bench. (And your MVP playing hurt, of course, but that’s the reality for the foreseeable future.)

Point to Chicago’s 10-point halftime lead if you like and say that they “collapsed” in the second half. Certainly that 36-point half was no work of art.

But that halftime margin is just Fun With Arbitrary End Points; anyone with a brain knew the Bulls were in for a tussle against the up-and-coming Hoosiers, currently pushing for third in the Eastern Conference and looking for all the world like the only other strong team in the Central Division.

Basically, the Pacers made a couple more plays down the stretch. I’m not going to get bent out of shape about the Bulls’ first home loss just because a few things went the other way this time.

Box Score

Record: 16-4, first in the Eastern Conference
Next: Friday 1/27 vs. Milwaukee, 7:00 CT
