Game 9: Hawks 109, Bulls 94

8 Jan 2012

Three Stars
1. Kyle Korver: 13 points (.637 TS%), 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals
2. John Lucas: 16 points (.621 TS%), 2 assists, 1 steal
3. Omer Asik: 8 points (.474 TS%), 13 rebounds, 2 steals

Fresh off a solid win in Orlando, the Bulls saved us all some time Saturday night by serving immediate notice they had no intention of having their shit together in Atlanta.

The Hawks roared out of the gate, just like they did Tuesday in Chicago, and this time they just beat the Bulls heavily about the face and shoulders for the bulk of the evening. It was a romp of startling proportions, in favor of the team completing a near-record string of 164 game minutes over the course of three days.

So maybe we should stop trying to understand the fatigue issue in this crazy season. But that’s about the only lesson to be drawn here. Obviously, the Bulls can’t play like this. The six-game win streak that just ended is evidence they rarely do.

Do we have to start taking the Hawks seriously? Please don’t tell me we have to start taking the Hawks seriously.

Box Score

Record: 7-1
Next: Monday 1/9 vs. Detroit, 7:00 CT
