Game 2: Warriors 99, Bulls 91

27 Dec 2011

Three Stars
1. Luol Deng: 22 points (.693 TS%), 10 rebounds, 1 block
2. Taj Gibson: 5 points (.644 TS%), 9 rebounds, 2 blocks
3. Kyle Korver: 11 points (.799 TS%)

That’s the best explanation I can come up with, too. I mean, the Bulls played the night before, but so did the Warriors. Back-to-backs are a way of life this season.

For now, it’s just a data point, most likely a fluke for one of the league’s best defenses. Because in Oakland, the Bulls were nothing of the sort. They turned the ball over 20 times, twice as many as Golden State, helping Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and David Lee all surpass 20 points.

The defensive effort was bad enough to distract from the fact that beyond Deng’s 10-of-15 shooting, Chicago shot 24-of-67 (36%). Derrick Rose was 4-of-17.

Just one of those nights? Probably.

But also a reminder that the Bulls are going to have to earn it again this year, no matter what they accomplished last season.

Box Score

Record: 1-1
